Words exchanged,
moments spent,
secrets shared,
they meant nothing.
Your smile when you said her name,
spilled the beans.

I didn't want to wipe that happiness off your face,
so I erased mine instead.
I covered my fading smile,
with a fabricated one.
but I chose you over myself,
in a heartbeat.

Words I wanted to say,
long before,
your smile clogged my throat,
like sewage in a drain.

You said good news,
you never asked if,
I was doing good,
are you concerned?
I wonder.

Nothing but a replacement,
borrowing her place,
You made me smile,
from the bottom of my heart,

But I still thank you for the things we shared. Thank you.
